Has lockdown left you feeling in need of a bit of TLC?

With the lockdowns coming and going, a common trend I have seen in my own clinic is an increase in new patients. We are spending so much more time in the house with ourselves, and are noticing more and more how our appearance makes us feel.

Whether you have been manically signing up to beauty product subscriptions, trying every home workout trend, or making your own skincare concoctions, we’ve all be trying to give ourselves that much needed TLC.

A survey done by Glowday, has shown that 44% of 25-34 year olds have said lockdown has made them look older, and they feel as if the lockdowns have affected their perception of their appearance.

The same survey found that of a pool of 2000 people, almost a quarter of people (22%) said the treatments boost their confidence, which rises to 31% of those aged 25-34. Having something that is just for you, and makes you feel confident and good in your own skin is so important, and 43% of our 2000 people, would consider an aesthetic treatment, to give them a ‘pick me up’.

However as demand for aesthetic treatments increases and people start to get adventurous, most (47%!) do not know what to look for in terms of seeing someone who is actually qualified to carry out their chosen procedure. This is a very high number and quite scary to read as a expert Nurse injector myself, few people know that the aesthetics industry in the UK is not actually regulated at all, and anyone can sign up to a course and become an aesthetics practitioner, without having any medical background as a Dr, Nurse or Dentist.

Despite consumers keen to get into clinic, they are apprehensive about where to go and who to see, with 38% unsure how safe treatments are or think they are too dangerous. From a safety point of view, I would encourage everyone to do their research, ask your practitioner about products, techniques and emergency protocols, and whether they are qualified as a medical professional. If they can not answer these questions I would strongly advice holding off on treatment. If you are receiving an aesthetics treatment from a medical professional who is properly qualified, there is no reason why this should not be a perfectly safe procedure.

Speak to your friends, your family, and do your research. I am so excited to be able to re-open (soon hopefully) and have opened my waitlist. DM me to join it for 10% off your first treatment back!

Let me give you all that TLC you have been craving,

If you simply cannot wait, why don’t you give me a message and book an online skin consultation? I can order you prescription only Obagi products to give your skin that ‘clinic feeling’ boost from your sofa.

Love,

Nina x
