Turning back the time… why dissolving your filler doesn’t have to be a negative experience.
More of us are getting back to ‘normal' after a year of coming in and out of lockdowns.
But, do you feel like you are grateful for a mask to hide your face? You’re not alone.
Many people are looking to reverse are cosmetic procedures, I have seen a huge increase in the amount of people coming into the clinic looking to reverse dermal fillers that they have built on. We’re mostly seeing women who had treatments in their early twenties at the hands of non-medical practitioners with undesirable results that just don’t repeat the natural human anatomy of their face.
The overdone look has been around for a while now, and although is still very fashionable, people are becoming impatient to have cosmetic procedures, and sometimes are not doing their research.
This means an influx of clients with lumps, bumps and filler migration. Along with some more dangerous, excessive bruising, and in serious cases vascular occlusion. VO occurs when blood is no longer able to pass through a blood vessel that may have been blocked with filler. If your practitioner does not have a medical background it can become difficult for them to solve this and in extreme cases results in the tissues dying.
Alongside the clients that come to me, there is also more and more in the headlines showing celebrities taking the plunge in dissolving over filled lips and cheeks.
Chloe Sims and Molly-Mae Hague have been very public about their choices to dissolve their filler, with Chloe stating that she is opting for a more natural, rejuvenated look and hoping to refill her lips but with a less dramatic result.
Both reality stars have said that they have spent close to 10s of thousands of pounds over time having their faces filled and various other surgical procedures, but they think it is time to catch themselves before it’s too late.
Molly admitted she’d been having her lips filled since she was 17 years old, and by the age of 22 they had felt hard and ‘botched’. Since having her fillers dissolved she has received huge praise from her fans about embracing her natural beauty. She has said she will consider natural tweakments in the future.
A big danger for going for the ‘overdone’ look, especially around the mouth, is the risk of filler migration. This happens when the body of the lip is overfilled and then the filler starts to travel around the outside of the border of the lip.
Leaving you with a potentially unnatural, stretched looking pout. While the process of getting fillers can be uncomfortable, having them dissolved again can be quite painful.
The same volume of Hyalase is used to break down the filler in the lips or face, so if you have had a build up of 5ml like Molly Mae stated she had, you would need a lot of liquid to dissolve them. Leaving them feeling tender and puffy for a few hours afterwards.
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme which breaks down the hyaluronic acid that makes up the filler. This is another reason why it is important to see a medical practitioner who can prescribe the correct products, as a lot of duplicate products on the market are not made up of the same components as Juvederm, which is a pure hyaluronic acid made to integrate naturally into the tissue of the face. This makes it a lot harder to reverse and can cause distress.
If you have had a bad experience with fillers and would like to get in touch regarding how I can help, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic and we will guide you through your dissolving experience.
My ethos is that I truly believe that fillers, and botox, when administered properly with high quality products and care can create beautiful results, that are so natural you could fool your friends.
You should feel great and have the confidence in your own skin, just with a little extra boost.
Love,
